Introduction
This manual is published in terms of section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA).
PAIA gives effect to the constitutional right of access to information held by the State, and to information held by another person where that information is needed to exercise or protect a right.
LeasEase (Pty) Ltd is a private body for the purposes of PAIA.

Records we hold
- Records kept in the ordinary course of business, such as invoices, contracts and correspondence.
- Records kept because a statute requires it, such as tax records, FICA and know your customer records, and POPIA processing logs.
- Records about employees and contractors, such as employment files and payroll.
- Records about customers, properties and leases.
- Records about the operation of the PPRA property-practitioner trust account (Property Practitioners Act s54) at First National Bank. Deposits will be held in that account under a registered principal's Fidelity Fund Certificate. The account is not operating yet, so there are no deposit records at this time.
Records available without a request
- CIPC company registration documents.
- Annual financial statements, once filed with CIPC.
- The Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy and Cookie Policy.
- Anything published on leasease.co.za.
- The Rental Health Index and its updates.
How to request a record
- Complete the prescribed Form 02 for a private body under the PAIA Regulations.
- Email the completed form, together with proof of your identity, to info@leasease.co.za.
- Pay the prescribed request fee, currently R50. The Information Officer will tell you about any further access fee before we start work.
- We respond within 30 days. That period may be extended once, by a further 30 days, where that is reasonably necessary.
- You must say which right you are trying to exercise or protect, and how the record you want will help you do that.
If you are asking for your own personal information rather than a company record, the simpler route is a POPIA access request. See section 8 of the Privacy Policy. There is no request fee for a first POPIA access request.
Grounds for refusal
Access may be refused on any ground set out in Chapter 4 of PAIA. Those grounds include the protection of a third party's privacy, a third party's commercial information, confidential information, the safety of people or property, legal privilege, and the operations of public bodies.
If we refuse a request we will tell you which ground we relied on, and how you may take the matter further.
Remedies and appeals
PAIA does not require a private body to run an internal appeal procedure. If you are unhappy with our decision, you may complain to the Information Regulator, or apply to the High Court for relief under section 78 of PAIA.
POPIA information
LeasEase processes personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013. The categories of data subjects, the personal information we process, and the recipients of that information are set out in our Privacy Policy.
